A critical emphasis on Phillis Wheatley’s poetry evaluates on how she used the scriptures to build on her political and social implications of evangelical theology. She was doing all this in order to strengthen her voice and tries to resist to the slavery acts. In her poem Goliath of Garth, Wheatley uses the paraphrase of Isaiah.
