Betraying Trust Or Providing Good Care?

Betraying Trust Or Providing Good Care?

Trust is a critical component of an effective patient-clinician relationship (Morrison, 2009). Nathanson (2000) presents an ethical dilemma involving a nurse handling two teenage girls, who are reluctant to seek care. In order to convince them to reveal vital information, Nurse Hathaway makes a promise not to reveal information about their health condition to parents and other people. In the examination, she realizes that one of her patients had HPV and cervical cancer.
